Had a little break from blogging again. Spent far too much time - or maybe not enough - scribbling away in my real diary recently. Had a lovely weekend with a friend; full of lack of sleep, tea, westie pups, long train journeys with books & ipod in tow, morning telly and Perfect Pizza. Pretty chilled up until Sunday when we drove down to the Reading Festival. It was our (including her boyfriend/my 'separated-at-birth' music brother) first time at the southern half of the twinned weekend, and it was nice to have a change for this year. I've got to be honest, though, I missed our little camp immensely from the last couple of years. Too many good memories of waking up to Mr Tambourine Man singalongs, and falling asleep to "Why are there so many people?" "IT'S A FESTIVAL JULIAAAAN!" Back there soon I hope.. pictures to follow in a couple of weeks when her boyfriend gets back from travelling with his camera (!!)
♥ Noah & The Whale
♥ A little bit of Deadmau5
♥ The View (where I spent the time translating what Kyle was prattling on about)
♥ Brand New (I think most people were falling asleep during this - I certainly felt like I could have..)
♥ Frank Turner (could have lost my voice during this, pretty much)
♥ Junior Simpson (comedian. pretty standard)
♥ Mitch Benn (comedian clutching a guitar)
♥ Bloc Party (surprisingly amazing. They usually bore me live, but that's the first (?) time I've seen them when it wasn't daylight I think)
♥ Radiohead (do I really need to make any comment? Other than oh-my-god-they-played-Creep-what-the-hell. I love Thom's banter in between songs)
The Short Distance Between Time and Shadow
..and paper creativity in general. I'm craving doing some origami! Ashamedly, will not be as extravagant as this one!
♥ First shots of the filming of SATC2 came out today. Why does this fill me with such glee? Guilty pleasure!
♥ Accessorize!!! I used to hate it, oddly. Toomuchtohandle. Their necklaces are gorgeous right now though. The mothership forced me to buy a new purse today because I was stubbornly clutching tightly (..and growling? er, nah) to my old one which was in, well, lets just say.. dire straits. And I don't mean the band..
♥ Florence Welch. She's just absolutely amaziing! There are only two girls that spring to mind when I'm forced to choose ~heroines and goddess-like idols~ right now and she is one of them. She's gorgeous, captivating, mystical, full to the brim with confidence and reeking of femme fatale. It's no coincidence that I've been toying with the idea of dyeing my hair a vivid shade of auburn one day! Perhaps not soon though, because apparently that idea has been nabbed by a million-and-one female Reading goers over the weekend..
♥ Miss Lily Allen (if you hadn't guessed so far) is the other heroine of mine that I stick up for on a regular basis when people such as Perez Hilton decide to get their trashy claws into her. Like she needs protecting though! Lily is actually fronting the new October issue of ELLE which is out tomorrow (!), and celebrates 25 years of London Fashion Week, meaning tonnes of British designers! Elle and Grazia are going a bit crazy this month setting up competitions galore. Funfun.
My best friend leaves on Sunday to pursue her dreamzz further north. It's not sunk in yet really. I'm going to make a mixtape, and hope she doesn't forget me, ha. Will miss her tonnes, but luckily trains exist for this very reason.
And speaking of trains, it was really refreshing to just sit alone in my own thoughts on my adventures this past weekend without any distractions. I'm like the only person who seems to looove travelling & long journeys. Had one of those moments where a song starts playing which sums up everything you're feeling at that time. I'd forgotten all about it too. My iPod is psychic, I swear.. (alright, how many times do people say that?!?!). I think this would be a failure of an entry if I didn't mention the fact that, no, I didn't get the chance to see the person I mentioned before. Cue violins..!?
There's a billion other things but I'm saving it for when I get my laptop which is in the v. near future, thankfully.. cannot wait to spend less time giving my computer an evil stare-out - just imagine two cowboys preparing to fight in the movies and you've got it - and more time getting on with other things!
PS - since the last entry I have a feeling I've found my ~calling~.. but I'll keep it under wraps 'til I'm certain!! Exciting stuff..
Au revoir xoxo
