Macdonald Marine Spa: The Review

1 July 2010

I've had a lovely couple of weeks, most of which I'm yet to upload photos of (a Highland break + a big event in aid of Breast Cancer Research).

The best of the lot, however, was my Spa Day at Macdonald Marine Spa. It was all planned as an early birthday present for my mother, and boy did it impress! The hotel itself is one I'm familiar with but the Spa is an addition which has instantly gotten rave reviews, so we had high expectations! Whilst we were there, there were many women talking about its superiority over other spa hotels in that area. I'm not entirely sure of my agreement with them, because this was my first step into that world, so I'm yet to have anything to compare to.

However, it was an amazing introduction and somewhere I'll definitely be going in the future to sample some other treatments and make use of the amaaazing Thermal Suite. The service from the majority of staff was immaculate; especially from the therapists doing our treatments (which included a Decléor Facial and a relaxing Aroma Envelopment treatment).

My main preconception of spa therapists was one of trepidation and expectation of patronising comments on your "daily beauty regime". This view was completely abolished when I stepped into the Marine Spa. They were wonderfully welcoming!

I've never felt so comfortable! At times I could have gladly fallen asleep, especially during my Decléor Relax Aroma Envelopment treatment.

My favourite of the Thermal Suite areas was the Rock Sauna (probably because of its striking similarity to a classic Swedish Sauna, haha), along with the Aromatherapy Steam Room. The semi-outdoor Plunge Pool was another attraction, especially on a hot summer's day like the day we attended.

Overall, really happy with how my day went :)

More updates to come...
