War of the Scents

 Hugo Boss Orange SS11
So summery! Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Hugo Boss are certainly doing a great job with their new advertising campaigns; the now-infamously-sizzling Orlando Bloom adverts are brilliantly slick too..

..unlike the new Miss Dior Cherie adverts featuring Natalie Portman. Personally, as much as I love a bit of Portman, I would never have put her face to that brand image. She's just not the ~Parisian Marie Antoinette~ type Miss Dior Cherie is famed for. Coupled with the fact that Sofia Coppola has chosen the most obvious "FRENCH" backing track known to the world. Disappointed.

The Sartorialist
Backstage at NYFW, via StuddedHearts. You might not be able to see properly but this model was wearing a vintage-looking red blouse with a chinese fan print on the chest. Was totally drawn to this detail when I spotted it. Love!

The cult of Anna Dello Russo's still in full swing, complete with gold cherries (an American Express upgrade on last season's coloured cherries???)
Space-age nails. (Jak and Jil)
(Umm.. either Garance Doré or Sartorialist - merging into one massive love-in. Probably the latter.)

Definite overwhelming coral obsession in New York.. not that I'm complaining! (Jak and Jil)

Woah, I am reeeeally loving Jason Wu's collection for this winter. Michelle Obama will be all ovah the last dress, with a few tailoring adjustments, etc. Love the detailing (Prints, jewels, sharp collars, thigh splits, ruffled feathery textures and ribbon ties. Not forgetting the lace on the tailored tuxedo coats). Perfect!

I'm starting to become slightly immune to photography, and the awe I once felt. I think it's purely because I took an overdose of it a year ago. This editorial reignites the wonder and magic of it once more; the mood is so gorgeously dim and mysterious, captured within the "Magic Hour" of dusk. I especially love how the last shot reminds me of the wives in old cowboy & indian movies. Just stunning. Makes you long for those summer evenings with the fading light casting pixie dust trails everywhere, and the balmy nights keeping cool indoors.

J Mendel SS11. I do love a bit of yellow/mustard. I'm just never really sure how to wear paintbox yellow.. Kris Atomic is definitely refuelling my appreciation.

Maison Martin Margiela AW11 - splashes of bright pink with neutrals? Yes, please.
