Lipstick On Your Collar

Lipstick On Your Collar - Connie Francis

Hi everyone,

I don't know about you, but applying a slick of lipstick in the morning after getting dressed helps to stick that smile back on my face and feel ready to take on the day. At 21, I also think it makes me feel like a proper mature lady! (Ahem, if only for a split-second..)

As we fall into bitterly cold mid-winter, I thought I'd compile some reviews of the lipsticks and lip butters I've been reaching for most days to give my pale skin a bit of a boost and/or my lips a surge of moisture..

Product Swatches

Top to Bottom: L'Oreal Paris Rouge Caresse in Dating Coral, Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie, Rimmel Kate Lipstick in #107

Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in #107

Applied alongside Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in 'Wine'.

This lipstick is now a bit of a cult beauty buy this winter, given the high coverage on other blogs, such as Olivia's blog. I don't always take heed of trends unless I'm sure they'd suit me. I normally stick to my ol' faithful Lady Danger by MAC if in want of a bold lip, to be honest. Having swatched this in Boots, I gave in and bought it. The dark cranberry-esque shade is spot-on for my light skin-tone & my green eyes. I even wore it on my birthday!

Adding a bit of vampy lipstick to my daily make-up!

This is another budget beauty buy which has been doing the rounds. I just received this very recently, alongside the 'Tutti Frutti' shade, and am really enjoying using it. It feels like applying a lip balm but has a high pigmentation of deep plum. A little less red than the Rimmel Kate lipstick, it gives the deep colour without the risk of drying out your lips. I've definitely become a lip butter convert and look forward to trying out some new shades in the spring!

N.b: Doesn't photograph particularly well, so it is a little deeper than illustrated.

This lipstick is the ultimate antidote to the winter blues. The coral-pink shade brings back memories of summer loving. It needs a few layers to get going but once it's on, your lips feel moisturised and "caressed" (as they like to advertise..). I recommend this primarily as a day-time lipstick which gives you a bit of a glow and looks lovely alongside Benefit's Posie Tint on the cheeks. I know Kate is a big fan of this lipstick, so I'm glad I bought this one.

N.b. Again, doesn't come up well in photos, but it is a pinkier-coral tone in real life, as shown in the swatch at the beginning of the post.
Hope you enjoyed reading these reviews and let me know if any other new lip shades are helping you rid yourself of the winter blues!

xoxo

  1. Looking lovely! There's nothing better than a slick of red lippy to make your makeup feel finished, eh? I really need to try the 1000 kisses liner but I literally cannot find it anywhere in Glasgow :(
