REN Radiance Range: The Review

25 January 2013

Hey!

So, we're all hopefully still sticking to our January detox plans..?

Recently, I won this wee starter kit from the REN Radiance range as part of Pure Spa's Twitter competition.

They called out to fans to give them their best detox tips, and I was lucky enough to win! These were my tips:
I'm definitely working hard to implement these new habits into 2013! So what could be more appropriate than trying out the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask & the Radiance Perfection Serum..?

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

The Claim

REN describe this product as:
"A potent bio active peel mask designed to renew the complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines and dramatically improve skin tone."
The ingredients include Bio Extracts of:
  • Natural fruit acids from passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple, along with
  • Papain from papaya exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, encouraging cell turnover and smoothing fine lines
The Reality

On first impressions, the mask smells lovely and fresh, with a fruity scent from the fruit acids within very apparent. After cleansing my face, I applied the mask liberally - as directed on the tube - all over my face, avoiding the delicate eye area. I then let it work its magic for 10 minutes while I faffed around..

During the process, the product tingled my skin - which may alarm some people, particularly anyone with sensitive skin, who REN recommend do not use this. I did find this aspect a little unsettling, but obviously it should mean the fruit acids are working to exfoliate and renew cell turnover. If in doubt, a patch test beforehand should eliminate any concerns. I, fortunately, did not encounter any reaction to it, and I would describe my skin type as normal/combination which was previously quite sensitive.

After removing the mask gently with the enclosed face cloth, I rinsed off any excess with warm water. My face felt cleansed and refreshed, as a well as a lot healthier. After drying my face off, it is then recommended to follow with the Radiance Perfection serum.

Worthy of Purchase?

I enjoyed using this mask, and am keen to purchase it as an additional third step after my deep cleansing clay & moisturising masks. It is intended to be used once a week, which would fit in great for any Sunday Pamper sessions!

REN Radiance Perfection Serum

REN Radiance Perfection Serum
The Claim

REN describe this serum as:
"A multi active serum formulated to reboot the skin’s energy cycle, visibly perfect skin tone and leave skin looking energised, radiant and luminous."
The ingredients contain:
  • Glabridin from Licorice, Tyrosinase Inhibitors from Wild Canadian Rumex and Vitamin C from Ascorbyl Lipovector regulate skin pigmentation to reduce age spots and correct skin tone
  • Hyaluronic Acid from Yeast plumps and intensively hydrates skin
  • Glycogen from Fruit Sugar and Magnesium from Olivine boost skin energy and radiance
Anything containing Hyaluronic Acid is alright by me (and Caroline Hirons, my favourite skincare guru..!)

The Reality

This serum had an equally pleasant, fruity scent. It packs a punch without needing to use a lot of product, so it is perhaps a worthy investment!

REN Radiance Perfection Serum

Following on from the Glycolactic mask, I smoothed this over my face and let it sink in before I applied my regular moisturiser. After using it, I instantly realised how brightened and glowing my face appeared. And, on closer inspection, my skin felt smoother, plumper and more balanced out (a pro for combination skin!). I actually went out shopping later on with barely any make-up on because I didn't feel the need to perk up my skin any more.

Worthy of Purchase?

The Hyaluronic Acid extract seals it for me, and I will hopefully be making this serum a part of my daily skincare regime. It can be used morning and/or night, and would make a lovely purchase in the Winter months when our skin is looking particularly dull and dehydrated.
