Hey guys!

Here's my 1st ever (properly official an' all that) Beauty Haul post! I do indeed purchase quite a lot of make-up, hair & skin-care products, so I think they deserve a wee post of their own, rather than the odd exclamation over on Twitter! I'm all about the glow this month; achieving the perfect illuminating base is my ultimate goal. I'm also looking to freshen up my (previously pink) locks with some ashy blonde through it next week, so some violet pigment shampoo was definitely on my shopping list to keep it looking tip-top..

I'll break this up into two parts. Part 1 will be my Boots goodies! Followed by the cheeky Space NK binge I went on.. ahem..!

Halloween Trickery at Edinburgh Dungeon..

Edinburgh Dungeon | Halloween | The Likely Lady
The Home of Halloween at Edinburgh Dungeon
It's that time of year again.. when witches and werewolves, vampires and the odd Game of Thrones or Mario Brothers character appears on the streets on All Hallows Eve.

And what better way to celebrate than with a trip to the Edinburgh Dungeon..?

The Hope, Glasgow

The Hope, Glasgow
Another foodie related post from me..?! Apologies, but apparently the whole of Scotland is going crazy for bar & restaurant launches this month! Not that I'm complaining.. ;)

I was invited, along with a bunch of fellow blogger girlie pals, by Toni at DaDa to the launch of The Hope on Waterloo Street in Glasgow. It's undergone a whopping £500,000 makeover, so it's one not to miss.. Any excuse for a wee food & drink-related gathering with my favourite ladies, eh..?

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Haircare Range: The Review

23 October 2013

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Hair Care Range
The John Frieda Luxurious Volume Haircare Range
Good evening, you lovely lot!

Today I've got a review for you (oooooohhh!). The lovely Olivia at The Communications Store contacted me recently asking if I'd like to try out John Frieda haircare products*. After a quick question about my hair type (lacking volume, fine but lots of it), she swiftly sent out - what I assumed to be - a product. Then, a whole range turned up on my doorstep. Suffice to say I was pretty pleased, considering I am absolutely useless with hair care..

Last week, on a rather chilly autumnal Thursday evening, I wrapped up warm and hopped on over to Linlithgow with some of my favourite Scottish blogger girlies to take a gander at the new and improved West Port Hotel..!

Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair presents.. Vintage Nation!

The weekend before last, me and my merry band of fellow bloggers (we sound like something out of Robin Hood - obviously fitting?!) - Gillian, Terri, Kirsty, Iona, Fiona and friends - gathered at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange once more for another event: the Vintage Nation event held by the same team who bring you Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair up and down the UK!

It was an event full of cake-eating, tea-sipping, hair-glamourising and Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer (naturally)..

The Likely Lady: A New Design; A New Chapter!

The Likely Lady: New Blog Design by Elevatormusik

This year has been the most momentous year in the history of The Likely Lady. In the 3 years before, the blog was a clutter of the occasional blog post full of all the visuals spilling out of my brain. It's gone from being a personal blog; a place where I post lookbooks; beauty reviews to millions of sudden blog events constantly to talk about. But, essentially, it needs to stabilise to make fab content that you guys wanna read!

I've found a wee home in the Scottish Bloggers fold, with lots of inspirational bloggers around me to spur me on & make my wee blog bubble a better place. And now, with the re-design which has been overdue for many years, I want to make this place as good as any of my top fave blogs! Cause, really.. you can put your mind to anything if you wanna work hard for it..

Mallzee: The Modern Way To Shop

11 October 2013

Cally Russell giving his introductory talk at the launch of Mallzee

A little late on this one (just a bit, Laura.. eesh!) but, as ever, 4th year has gotten a bit crazy so I'm cracking on with a few blog posts in one sitting before I go home for a weekend of essays! Yawwwn..

So, a couple of weeks ago me and some other lovely Scottish Bloggers (and my lovely pal Farhana!) rocked up to the much-anticipated launch of the Mallzee iPhone app. After a few drinks and one of my favourite cake pops (!!), it was time for Cally Russell, the Founder of Mallzee, to introduce us to the app...

So, it's officially Autumn, and we're starting to see the leaves crisp over into glowing auburn shades. I've gotta be honest.. October is my favourite month of all. With all that time to go into the kitchen and bake treats & whip up some heart-warming soup, it's time to really work on putting the spring back in your step now summer has disappeared! And what could be more appropriate than bringing colour into your wardrobe?

Now, I know there are many amongst you who are thinking "nooo.. I just wanna slip on my darkest winter-wear and wallow in my onesie", but that's no way to keep the mood elevated!! Well, not permanently at least.. I vote that coral is not just for summer; that pastel shades are not just part of your holiday wardrobe and that polka dots are a multi-seasonal staple! Are you with me?! GOOD! Now - GO FORTH AND SHOP!
