I'm back with another review. Ka-powww! This time, I've hopped on the balm bandwagon & picked myself up a Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm (in 'Unapologetic', to be exact..) - it kinda just fell into my Boots basket.. eek.
So, Revlon have brought out their own variety of balms, with the glossy-finish Lacquer Balms & these Matte Balms being their take on the trend. Bourjois are their main (high street) rival to the crown, with their Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayons being a pretty much identical product.. However, their colour range is much more limited at the moment. So, Revlon has swiped the board for me!
Revlon promise that:
"This innovative Chubby lip pencil takes your look from day to night with this velvety matte finish, infused with Balm like moisture. This on trend finish comes in 10 shades take your look from soft and pretty to bold and glamorous... Contains a Triple complex of Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter. Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required."
But.. how does it match up to this big promise of a bold lip colour that doesn't dry out your lips..?
Revlon have thrown it out the park! This balm is exactly what I've been looking for.. As much as I love my MAC and Rimmel lipsticks, they aren't the most forgiving of formulas to those dried-out winter lips, and usually require a heavy dose of Lush Lip Scrub and a balm before even thinking about applying! This lip colour, however, feels like it's hugging the lips when applied. It's so comfortable to wear and gives me the perfect boost of pink colour pop on a grey miserable Scottish day, without the worry of having to constantly go to the ladies' to re-apply.. I also agree that it would be handy for your bag, if you had to do a speedy change before going out after work! The Shea, Mango & Coconut Butter are perfect ingredients.
In fact, the fact it is a chubby pen makes application so easy on-the-go, and pretty much fail-safe, as opposed to the difficulties in applying a lipstick straight from the bullet & usually looking a bit mental in the process..
I LOVE! ♥
|Excuse the terrible after-uni face.. This proves the lack of dry lip wear after being out all day though!|
Would I Re-purchase It?
Yes, siree! I'm gonna invest in a few more colours. It was a tie-up for me between Audacious, Striking & Unapologetic.. the only reason I picked this is because it filled a gap in my colour stash! At £7.99 a pop, it's on par with the glossier Lip Butter pricing, and the quality is so good that I can't see me bothering to go over to the Clinique Chubby Stick side, with their £17 price-tag..
The Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in 'Unapologetic' is priced at £7.99, and is available in Boots now! Head to your nearest city-centre store for the biggest selection of colours.
A roaring success, I would say! What do you think of the new chubby lip balms? Are you tempted to rush out to go buy 'em before they're all snapped up?
