Hi guys! Apologies it's been a non-existent blogging week.. I've been pretty busy with Uni, job hunting & sorting out my life a bit! Mostly with healthy eating & exercise, as Ibiza with my best friend is looming & I have about a stone to lose.. eek! However, I did attend a lovely event at Miss Dixiebelle in Edinburgh which I'll be blogging about in due course. I'd like to get some better photos first so I'm gonna head back there ASAP.
Here are my three things which made me smile this week!
1. The unexpected excitement of finding Allure magazine in Waterstones!
So, I happened to wander along to Waterstones after a chat with a company about a grad job.. And, after scanning the books & mentally compiling a list for when I have a job (and time to read for pleasure!), I hopped along to the magazine racks. Oh my.. the American Allure appeared in a wave of excitement! Yeah, I know I could subscribe online, but the year-long hunt for this rare gem was worth it (besides, it's cheaper in-store it seems..) A skin-care & beauty bible; my favourite..!
2. Nomming down gourmet marshmallows & cocktails in teacups at Miss Dixiebelle
|Look at the Hollywood bulbs! Swoon!|
Our blogger trip to the relaunch of Miss Dixiebelle in Edinburgh was a lovely jaunt down glamourpuss lane.. Presented with teacups filled with prosecco & cranberry, we spent the evening chatting up a storm & getting a little giddy on the bubbles (or was that just me..?!). The shop is so cute & I often crane my neck to look in the window when I'm nearby, never quite finding the moment to pop in. So, getting to see all they had to offer (as well as eating Lime Cheesecake & Cookies and Cream marshmallows by The Marshmallow Lady & perusing skin-care by Just Be on the night) has encouraged me to head back! A shellac mani or a hair style worthy of '40s Hollywood royalty? Yes, please.. In fact, you might remember I first experienced their hair styling services back at Vintage Nation at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange in October.
Oh! And, cheeky addition: I finaaaally visited The Blackbird before the event, which is just down the road from Miss Dixiebelle. Oh my, was it worth it! I'd only been in there 2 years ago when it was an old man's pub & I wanted a beer garden, but it's much better now. Worthy of the Scottish Style Awards win last year for 'most stylish bar'! I recommend the Kick-Ass cocktail & their homemade butternut squash & chilli soup.. yum!
3. Practising my Valentines mani..
When I saw this mani idea over at Nouvelle Daily, I was sold. Easy peasy, with a steady hand, this mani is well worth rocking come Valentines Day (or Palentines, as Gillian has renamed it in honour of our celebrations next week as a group of pals!). Go do!
What have you loved this week & what made you cheer up on a dull day? Let me know!
