Hey! I'm baaaaaack! I'm so excited to share lots of posts with you guys!
I'm finally finished the ol' Dissertation malarky, so that's all handed in and the post-hand-in celebrations are done and dusted. I've just got a report & final exam to do in early May and I'm officially a graduate.. come at me graduate employers! Ahem.
So! Without further ado, let's look into the wonderful world of Debenhams SS14 (with lingerie, swimwear, accessories, womenswear & fresh beauty loot galore!)..
I was kindly invited to the Scottish press launch of Debenhams SS14 at Blythswood Square Hotel, Glasgow, by their PR team and was honoured to be a part of a British household name's press season! I excitedly popped along to Glasgow with my partner-in-crime Brionny (as much a beauty & fashion lover as me).
Lingerie & Swimwear
The event began with a welcome summery cocktail & a browse around the latest in Debenhams SS14 lingerie offerings. Debenhams are pulling out all the stops this season. No longer just a department store you were often dragged to with your mum as a kid; Debenhams is now the place to be for a classic take on the latest trends. Unlike your local Topshop or River Island with their quick-fix trends, Debenhams really know how to carve their niche as a place to make valuable purchases which will stand the test of time, as future trends come and go.
Cute as a button sailor themed bikini.. perfect for summer holidays!
After a look around the lingerie & swimwear section, we pretty much swooned over the accessories area. This was my favourite bit! From pastels to metallics & glitz, all the trend boxes were tick-tick-TICKED!
Fluoro accessories; perfect with a tan!
What can I say? I'm a pastels girl at heart.. the bow bag has gone down a storm with bloggers & press this season! I love the H by Henry Holland lips bag too - I actually mistook it for Lulu Guinness! So pretty.
The perfect statement shoes to perk up a smart structured look!
Bringin' on the glitz! Magpie moment
Aaaahhh.. so much swoony goodness! Are you a fluoro, pastels, metallic or glitzy kinda girl?
The SS14 womenswear room was filled with so many different trends. There were looks to cater for every age range, style and occasion! Bright coral tailoring, preppy casual dungarees and slick black jumpsuits.. even dressy Jenny Packham & Coast. Here are a selection of my favourites..
Yes. That is INDEED a parrot print jumpsuit in the last picture. A Debenhams PR lady in the beauty section was wearing it and I kinda got jealous..
Come on.. I know you lot too well. The new beauty releases are the most exciting part here, right? The inner ViviannaDoesMakeup fangirl (yes. I do watch her YouTube channel religiously. Love!) was squealing. On with the show!
I sort of gravitated towards the new SS14 nail ranges by Nails Inc, Essie & Mavala. I don't know how that happened, truly... Look at them all! Like ice cream shades for your fingers. Essie are brand new to Debenhams, yay! They are definitely my favourite nail brand (joint with Models Own), but I do really love Nails Inc's dainty gift-worthy packaging and colour offerings this season! I was kindly gifted* the new Essie 'Full Steam Ahead' shade (seen here - not yet in-store) and everyone loves it! It's got a lovely subtle shimmer throughout, making it much softer than a regular slick of lilac.
Yes, I DO want this. Not entirely a new offering, but seems useful for the handbag! The Benefit Big Easy BB cream was there too & a cheeky swipe showed me it looked like a goodie..
Brionny loves this! She's much more a neon makeup lover.. I remember we had to swap Glossybox items once 'cause I'm into pastels & nudes ha
Too Faced Chocolate Bar. Yeah! It does smell of chocolate, if you're wondering! Quite a marmite sort of thing.. much too shimmery for my eyeshadow taste
Crystal Clear Skincare
Now! This was the odd moment. I had the Crystal Clear 'Lift Away the Years' wand used on my face, promising to firm and improve skin tone and elasticity. I was kinda dragged into trying it, and didn't expect miracles (it is designed for mature skin, after all) but by the look on everyone's faces in the room... um. This wand works! I had CHEEKBONES! Or, er, one cheekbone, when used to compare to the other side of my face haha! It also gave my brow-bone a tighter "lifted" look. I received a complementary wand* and passed it over to my mum who is now a fan! The brand are well-known for their in-salon microdermabrasion treatments, so they know their stuff. Fancy a temporary lift before you apply makeup? This is your new best friend.
Clarins Summer Bronzing Compact (yet to arrive in-store) - WANT!
Lia from Swoon Nails hard at work beautifying everyone's nails with the new Essie shades!
Lia from Swoon Nails gave my nails a good polishing up afterwards, and we both opted for a mixture of 'Bikini So Teeny' with 'On A Silver Platter' glitter overlay. (See my finished look here). I loved them! Also, Lia's a brilliant lady. I recommend you check her out if you're needing your nails seeing to in Glasgow.
The Catwalk Finale
And, finally.. the catwalk finale with the SS14 trends in action! I was next to the show videographer, feeling a little bit profesh.. or, er, rubbish with my Nikon haha!
And there you go!
What a night! What are you looking forward to purchasing at Debenhams this season? I have the pastel accessories and the new beauty goodies in mind..
Thank you to Debenhams PR for kindly inviting me & gifting me a voucher to use in-store! Lovely people!
