The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter: The Review
Today I'm reviewing an old favourite of mine.. The Body Shop's Coconut Body Butter*!

Now, many years ago, as a teenager, I was a big fan of the sickly sweet Strawberry Body Butter. My sense of smell must have changed a lot as I can't deal with heavy fruity scents all over my limbs nowadays. I'd much rather go for a more classic scent when I want to pamper my body a bit.. But the scent of coconut had passed me by, ('cept in cooking - where I'm now fully obsessed with using Coconut Oil!) Anyway, food aside (!?), I'm pretty glad Elly got in touch to ask if I fancied giving this body butter a shot! Here's how I got on trying it out..

The Promise

The Body Shop barely need to sell themselves with their famed Body Butter range.. I'm sure any girl who's grown up in the '00s is aware of how good it is! In fact, the Coconut scent is a best-seller for them! But here's what they say anyway:

"This rich and creamy Body Butter is a feast for the skin. It melts straight in to leave skin feeling soft and smooth. It contains Community Fair Trade virgin organic coconut oil and has a totally tropical coconut scent
  • 24-hour hydration
  • Great for normal to dry skin
  • Tropical coconut scent"
Does it live up to the hydrating hype, though...?

The Reality

Its promise to melt straight into the skin is a tough one to decide on.. I've been using a lot of gradual tanning moisturisers recently so my skin is already pretty hydrated, and the Body Butter takes a little longer to sink in (I probably should apply less liberally!) However, my skin really does feel 10x smoother after applying, and I imagine it'd be heaven for drier limbs in the winter months!

The SCENT! Oh em gee.. it smells like drinking straight out of a coconut on the beach in the Bahamas. Take me on holiday, now! However, obviously, I don't recommend actually drinking this.. save it for those thirsty pores, y'all. The scent lasts and lasts all day, and I feel really nourished and comfy, with no uncomfortable tight dry itchy skin like I used to deal with (the results of a lack of daily moisturising!)

I could literally just sniff the tub all day (.... and, um, I just did after I wrote that)

Would I Re-purchase It?

Yes yes yes. At £13 for 200ml, it's great for the results it shows. I'm gonna keep it handy to decant into a travel mini for my Ibiza holiday next month..! If you fancy picking it up yourself, it's available in-store at your local The Body Shop or online.

Which scent reminds you of beachy holidays..? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I love all of the Body Butters. The Shea butter one reminds me of being little and shopping with my sister :)

Thanks for reading! x
