A few weeks ago, I was invited back to Tempus Bar to sample their new autumn/winter menu. Having really enjoyed last year's summer menu launch (post here) and this January's Burns Night burger event (here), it only took me a split second to say yes to this invite when it appeared in my inbox! So here's what's on the menu for this season at The George Hotel's Tempus Bar.. Get ready to salivate, I'm warning you now.
Me and Gillian popped over a little earlier before the dinner to have 'Raspberry Mousse' (champagne, chambord and raspberry puree) cocktails as I'd, just that day, had my contract extended at work, so I was excited to treat myself! As expected with Tempus' standards, the cocktails were wonderful and I felt suitably spoiled. They're around the expected George Street mark for cocktail pricing, but well worth it.
After meeting up with Lynne, Terri, Kirsty, Lynsey and Adam, we got to work checking out the menu. To begin, I chose the Wild Mushrooms with Garlic on Toasted Sourdough as my starter. It was so so melt-in-your-mouth and really set the scene for what was to come for the rest of the meal. I've only recently become a starter person; usually choosing to forfeit a starter in order to make room for pudding! So this was a definite favourite, and a dish I will definitely be choosing again if I head back to Tempus in the future. Great for vegetarians alike too.
To follow, I chose the 250g Crombie Beef Burger served with cured bacon, Isle of Mull cheddar & pickle and hand-cut chips. Having had the burger during the Bard's Burger event, I knew how good Tempus are at cooking up the finest Scottish beef burgers by Crombies. Beware, though, they're not one for a light-bite type of eater! I never manage both slices of the roll.. Also, HELLO! Favourite chips. You could just hear all my blogger pals ooh'ing over them.. ladies after my own heart, obviously..
And to top it off, me and Gillian shared a Taste of Scotland dessert trio platter, featuring Chocolate Fondant, Honey Ice Cream and Cranachan. We each had our own wee individual puds on the plate so no awkward splitting the desserts in two, like with some restaurants! The cranachan was sooo good. I am a big cranachan fan anyway, so I was in love.
The full autumn/winter menu is available here.
What do you think of the new menu? Will you checking out Tempus and keeping warm from the cold whilst out doing your Christmas shopping this winter? Let me know as always :)
I was kindly treated to a three-course meal and drinks at Tempus Bar, however this is not a sponsored post and all opinions are my own.
