Happy 1st Birthday Mademoiselle Macaron!

23 May 2015

Mademoiselle Macaron Edinburgh Patisserie
I'll start this post by admitting that I had not - until now - had the pleasure of visiting Mademoiselle Macaron on Grindlay Street, Edinburgh, until now! This beautiful little patisserie was masterminded by Rachel during a love affair with Paris and its macarons. A former Alain Ducasse cookery school graduate, Rachel wants to ensure every visitor can:
"Step out of Edinburgh and into Paris for a day.."
Under the familiar shadow of Edinburgh Castle, into Paris you will most definitely go. The café has little viewfinders where you can see Parisian streets and daydream whilst you bite into her wonderful macarons and sip on a mug of hot chocolate. Of course, all with a side helping of Rachel's proud "Scottish banter". Hey, you can take the girl out of Scotland but....! ;)

See what I got up to at their 1st birthday party..

We feasted on the classic sweet macarons (even Innis and Gunn flavours!) and prosecco, but with savoury treats such as parma ham, rocket and cheese on a plain vanilla macaron base. This particular one was a favourite all round! We were all questioning Rachel on it. I just couldn't get enough of that tasty treat.. Oh God, I want one now whilst I'm writing this. Help. This was alongside mini "macaron burgers" with salami inside, amongst many others. Cute! It really opens your mind to all the macaron possibilities...

Very Mendl's in Grand Budapest Hotel, right?!

From perching by the Eiffel tower statue and munching on a Salted Caramel macaron to indulging in a Salmon, Creme Fraiche and Dill Crepe at lunch-time, Mademoiselle Macaron has it all and more. I didn't know until that evening that they even host macaron making classes! This is one to add to your wishlist or nudge your boyfriend to treat you to.. I myself have decided to do it this summer. What a lovely skill that would be to have, eh? If catering is what you need, they even have that on offer. Get to it!

Will you be visiting Edinburgh's own Parisian hideaway and sampling Rachel's macarons? Keep me updated!

xoxo

  1. OMG this place is adorable! Definitely something to look up when I'm next in Edinburgh. Luckily I wont need to nudge my boyfriend as he's probably more obsessed with macarons than I am!
