My Morning Routine

17 November 2015

There isn't really a day that goes by that doesn't see me running frantically out of the door clutching my staff pass in one hand and my phone in the other. However, on the odd occasion I make the extra time in my morning routine, there are a few sacred moments I like to include. After all, there really is no better time than the morning to ensure your day starts off on the right foot. Here are a few glimpses into my morning routine:

♥ Waking up to my alarm with a dazed look on my face... another 5 minutes please. After an extra 8 minutes' snoozing, it's time to get up.

Shower and skincare time

♥ After a big ol' stretch, I head to the shower. Body brushing is my newest habit (I picked up this cheap n' cheerful body brush from John Lewis recently), followed by a good ol' lathering with the Tresemme moisture shampoo and conditioner; Original Source watermelon and jojoba oil moisturising shower gel; and cleansing with the Dermalogica cleanser. If I have time, I love to use the Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub too - my favourite scented body-care product! Smells like maple syrup and all things sweet, Nom.

♥ Showering done, it's on to my skincare routine, which is coming sooooooon (!), but it's the bit that makes me feel most refreshed and awake.

Hair styling

♥ After my face is feeling a bit perkier and whilst my moisturiser sinks in, it's on to blow drying my hair. I'm back to digging out my Sebastian Potion 9 after my new hairdresser Calum at Medusa reminded me of how good it is! After that, I run the L'Oreal Oil in Cream through the ends and comb back through again with my tangle teezer.

♥ When my hair's suitably swishy and blow dried with a round brush, I sometimes like to pick up my curling tong (the Enrapture Totem Curler) to get some texture and voluminous curls in my hair. I honestly don't feel like myself without doing this - it really helps me feel put together for going to work. Though, let's be fair, when it comes to catching up on extra zzzz's, curling my hair is the first part of my morning routine to suffer!

Breakfast and make-up

♥ Hair done, it's time to move on to breakfast. A bowl of granola with almond milk is usually on the agenda. I like to eat breakfast whilst doing my make-up in my room; a time-saving thing I started doing back in Uni on those grey winter mornings before my 9am lectures, and something I still habitually do.

Getting dressed and out the door...

♥ I'll be writing up my make-up routine post soon, but after putting my face on and brushing my teeth, it's time to dig through my wardrobe and put on my Cheap Monday specs. I'm wearing my faux leather skinny trousers to death right now; usually paired with a polka dot shirt or a cosy oversized knit jumper and black suede Chelsea boots.

♥ After slipping into my navy parka, I sling my & Other Stories bag over my shoulder and walk out the door.

♥ Small skinny latte in hand once I get to work, I make my way to my desk and it's time to start the day.

What can you not live without doing in your morning routine?

  1. Lovely post! I love granola for breakfast because it keeps me full for such a long time!
